Bravery Was Her Fuel
Kathy Tam was in a coma for 12 days.
Doctors removed a blood clot from her brain
and treated deep gashes all over her body.
She remembers nothing from United Airlines Flight 232...or the crash.
But she knows this:
She was an off-duty flight attendant that day but offered to help.
She survived the plane igniting into a fireball.
She was one of 185 survivors…
Out of 296 passengers aboard.
Kathy began a long and rugged recovery.
"I knew I had to work hard," she told me.
"I had to cooperate with all the nurses—
to get back to my old life."
After three and a half months in the hospital, she left with a goal:
Return to the job she loved.
"I was motivated, eager, anxious to go back to flying.
I wanted to tell myself, and the world,
I can do this job better than anybody."
One year after the crash, Kathy was back in the air.
Back in uniform. Back with her crew.
She didn't just survive...
She reclaimed the future she loved.
Her motivation was clear.
It gave her the fuel to be brave.
Live Kathy's lesson:
Pinpoint your motivation.
Identify your most important goal.
Bring focused, determined energy to achieve it.
And let that clarity carry you forward.
