Sometimes the Bravest Thing Is Tell Someone What They Mean to You
Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is tell someone what they mean to you.
Last week, I received a comment that stopped me in my tracks.
It made my day.
My week.
Maybe even my month.
Because while I often speak about bravery in courtrooms, boardrooms, and crisis situations…
I'm reminded that bravery isn't always about big, dramatic moments.
Sometimes, bravery is sharing your perspective.
Telling the truth about someone's impact.
Saying something heartfelt that might feel a little vulnerable.
That's what Bob Chapman did here.
And I'm braver for it.
We talk a lot about performance in leadership.
About presence. Decisiveness. Strategy.
But what if we talked more about
Thoughtful words?
Gentle honesty?
Showing up for someone with kindness and clarity?
I'm grateful and humbled to share this.
As someone who's used to encouraging others, I don't always know how to receive encouragement myself.
But we need more leaders who can do both.
So here's my challenge to you:
Who could use a kind word from you today?
Who's made an impact and might not even know it?
Tell them.
That's brave leadership, too.
