Bravery’s Special Moment

Bravery is having a special moment.  We seek bravery in today’s world – from our leaders and ourselves. Bravery is in high demand.   

We are unsettled by rapidly shifting sands – political upheavals, technological developments, institutional breakdowns. Today’s stakes seem higher. Which makes us prone to fear and doubt and uncertainty – and tempted to freeze in the face of change.   

Yet we know that standing still in this fluid, challenging, turbulent world will leave us left behind and lost.  

We can’t know the exact path forward.  But bravery can be the guiding principle for our journey.  Bravery can be the choice we make every day in large and small decisions – choosing to act instead of waiting, choosing to speak up instead of staying silent, choosing to lead instead of following.   

Bravery has a special place for us as Americans.  Bravery is the very foundation of our country, our technological advancements, our social progress.  Bravery shapes our greatest moments and defines our greatest leaders in every field.
