Bravery Wonโ€™t Be There When You Need It

Hereโ€™s a great expression from Navy SEALs: โ€œ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ, ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป, ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ธ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด.โ€

During my recent podcast interview with Emma-Louise Parkes, we talked about that Navy Seal quote and the requirements for bravery. Let me expand on that.

What is the final test for a U.S. Secret Service agent applicant at the end of sixteen weeks of brutal training?

Two trainers jump the applicant who must overcome them, unarmed.

โ€œWe train unlike any other federal agency,โ€ former deputy director A.T. Smith told the Washington Post.  โ€œWe train to the edge and then we lean over.โ€

Smith said the Presidentโ€™s Secret Service security detail trains two weeks out of every eight to stay refreshed and adapt to new threats.

The Secret Service trains bravery into its agents โ€“ so they can respond to any threat.

Build your bravery.  Practice it steadily.  Train your bravery to a high level.

Then you can call on your bravery to spark you, your team and your organization to outperform.
