Bravery Is Something You Do

Bravery isn't the absence of fear.
It's standing tall in the presence of it...again and again.

Fear is part of being human, not a personal failing.

What defines us isn't whether we feel afraid.
It's how we respond to that fear.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin once said:
"Bravery is the gradual accumulation of discipline."

In other words, it's a capability.
And that means it's something every one of us can build.

My journey to standing brave started with my role as a federal prosecutor, standing up for crime victims who needed a voice and a guide.

I didn't feel brave every day.
I chose to act bravely because their safety and dignity depended on it.

Bravery isn't something you have.
It's something you do.

And, over time, it becomes who you are.
