What Does Freedom Take? Bravery

The 4th of July is often celebrated with fireworks.
But I think of something quieter.

The bravery of the people who charted this country’s independent path.

Ordinary individuals who made extraordinary decisions.
They had no roadmap, no certainty, and no guarantee of success.
With the threat of execution as traitors hanging over them.

That’s what courage looks like.

It’s not loud.
It doesn’t always come with fanfare.
Sometimes, it’s a quiet resolve to stand for what matters.

Bravery built this country.
Bravery continues to shape it.

I’m grateful for the people, past and present, who chose and choose the brave path forward.
